Hi guys, and welcome back to my channel! Today's video is another of the.

How am I calling you.

Style 101, I think? Fashion 101, something like that? Basically, a little more educational.

Well, in today's video I will share with you what is the difference between a trend and a passing fad, because what I've been doing in my fashion videos, those spring trends that I just took, I always say that I try to mention the trends that I think have importance and they will last.

But I'm going to release a super video soon that will be more focused on fads.

So I definitely wanted to share this video before that other because I want you to know what is the difference between the two things because I use a language very loose.

For example, I never say "fad, I always say "trend", or the moment.

So we are going to touch all the details and I will explain them to you in steps so that you really understand what is the difference between the two things and can you decide for yourselves if They want to spend their money on something that will last a short time or something else like, you know, a tendency.

Let's start at once, and in fact I'm going to start with Dr.

Dre, because his letter gave in the cape of the difference between a trend and a passing fad, then Lúcete, Dr.

Dre: I am a trend, I impose one every time I enter.

I go out and return, a full circle again.

You're a fad, that means you're something we already had.

But when you leave you do not come back anymore.

That bad.

He brilliantly defined what a trend is and A passing fad.

skinning whoever he was talking about.

Let's detail it a bit more and define exactly what characteristics have the trends.

Trends definitely have a lot of depth, that's why in my Trends videos I can analyze why these things happen, and I go deep because you can, understand? I can really detail where this comes from, what reflects.

The reason for these things.

Because trends have that depth.

Another feature of the trends is that they can come back.

And they definitely come and go of fashion.

And another characteristic of a trend is that it is relevant although he is not out there at the time, what Dr.

Dre said.

They still matter because they are a great reflection of what was happening in that specific period of time in our society.

Then the trends are very important behind them, whether they arise from the need, or of a movement, or of how was the Economy, or our political climate.

Any environment social where we were is where the trends come out.

Do you follow me? Hope so.

Some examples of trends are definitely many of the things that I discuss in my videos.

For example, T-shirts with political statements were a trend because They reflect what is happening.

We want to express our opinion and what that we believe, because to what is happening in our policy.

Or for example, the suit powerful "Power Suit" of the 80s, which is coming back, So that really defines what a trend is.

Its coming back, arose from the number of women who joined the workforce, and that's where that need came from, then women demand more work clothes.

You can see how those movements and those things that are happening in society influence fashion.

It's like that of "Art reflects life, life reflects art".

It's all very linked.

And that's a way that you determine if it will last for more than a moment, or let's see this trend for a few years and then will slowly rise, and there will be a minute where it will be super fashionable and then it will slowly descend.

That is the cycle of a trend.

A passing fad, On the other hand, it has a very short life time.

The characteristics of a passing fad would be: 1.

Fascination in the short term.

They go super fast and equally they go down super, super fast.

The passing fashions also lack depth.

Yes they come from trends, but They're like, dumb practically.

They really are not practical and, to be very honest, sometimes they can be something kind, an ice sword, but for some reason it's super, super popular at that time.

It also happens with passing fashions that usually an influential person, you know, a celebrity or someone so he has a lot influence, this trend starts and then it expands like a fire and then it is extinguished super fast.

Some things we've seen and, as I said, I'll talk about things that are happening right now.

Some examples Kanye lenses can be from the past.

Remember? They literally have no use, and they are so impractical I definitely think we do not miss them, and that's another characteristic of fads: You do not miss them when they go, and generally not they come back, but I feel that at this moment there is so much lack of originality, and all is a reference and something old that comes back.

I feel that there is no novelty in fashion, everything is a reiteration, basically.

With that characteristic of not returning, It's a little.

You have to be a little flexible.

I feel that passing fashions definitely they come back but the thing to really identify them is that they are not practical in any way.

Another example of A passing fad would be to show the thong.

You know, in early 2000, it was very fashionable that your thong was higher than your low-waisted pants, and that is definitely something that will not be missed and lived for a short time.

There were many influential women, many pop stars who used it, so definitely, yes, jump to, you know, the popular.

Well, those are some examples of fads, but as I said, I use a very loose language, so I tend to call them same trends, but there is definitely a definition type "school book" of each.

I just wanted to tell you how you can separate the elements so that they can at least identify the difference between the two.

In my Spring / Summer Trends video I mentioned a graph That graph was very.

had a steep slope, and the trends, like I said, the trends take a little longer in reach the top of the popularity and that's when everybody he sees it everywhere and then goes down even the stragglers and so on.

Meanwhile, the graphic of passing fashions looks more like a triangle, then it reaches a certain super point fast and is more inclined and then declined super fast.

It's more like a more pointed, thin triangle and.

I'm really not good at Mathematics, I hope I'm using the right angle, right? Well, that's how you can perceive the visual difference between a passing fad and a trend through a graph.

Y I feel that this is the perfect time to talk about the plastic trend, because whatever it is that is causing Fashion trends.

Those are more movements, or what is happening in our panorama Yes? So when I mentioned the trend of plastic, I received many comments like "Wow, be good with the environment at the same time that you produce more plastic that will end in the landfill.

"I never, never, never said that Chanel, or Balmain or none of those designers they were showing plastic on their catwalks, They were being aware of the environment.

I'm just saying that fashion reflects what is happening and almost that predicts the future, in a way, where they feel they are going.

I feel Chanel at least, and I mention them because I feel that theirs it was super symbolic in the sense that It was all like outdoors, in nature and everything was plastic.

That is the concept that I perceived, It's my opinion, I'm not saying that they are aware of the environment, because, honestly, the fashion industry is the second most polluting in the world.

The order is type, oil, that is fossil fuels, and then the fashion industry, then.

Everyone is guilty, and if you're going to fuck them for in fact use what you can define as plastic really, as we know that plastic is visible, but you buy in Zara or any of the fast fashion stores.

And other people too, actually, that is, everyone uses polyester and polyester it's the number 1 fabric that the fashion industry uses, and it's made of plastic, then polyester clothes take a long time to decompose also.

Then that's what is filling our land, our landfills, and it is not decomposing because It takes all that time and especially because fashion is being done at such a pace fast and it's like fashion "to bounce" right? Well, I'm super guilty because I'm a big fast fashion consumer too, but I'm learning more and trying, you know, trying to be more aware of what I buy.

I was just saying in that video that's where I think it's going, I'm doing as a fashion prediction, and I feel that we are going there, and Chanel is always one of those They come first to everything else.

They are the ones that impose the trends, and many of the designers that I mentioned they are also very influential in what we will see in the coming years, and that's why I mention those designers.

And also cut that video because It was very long and I just talked like crazy, a little like now, because I had also mentioned the weather patterns because they are basically raincoats those plastics transparent.

They are basically waterproof and I feel that influence also.

As I say, the trends take a time rise until they are in fact popular, then I think that's the address to which it goes.

Consumers will be demanding better fabrics for the environment and conscience.

With awareness? I can never say it well.

Awareness of our environment, because now we are in fact seeing many of the effects that we have on our planet.

And also taking into consideration whether it is manufactured in decent working conditions.

Everything is going to become more transparent, then I feel that the more people are conscious, We are going to be demanding that of those who sell us cast.

Good, that was all about the plastic situation.

I'm sorry if I did not make that clear, I also think that a lot of people were applauding in the comments "Yes, they are being aware of the environment!", and no, this is just an observation that I am doing as a kind of fashion prediction, and I hope they are being more aware, but no, they are still very guilty, and not only them, practically everyone.

There are a few, of course, but what I say is that he goes there, I hope.

I hope so, and that is what I predict.

Well, I know I went by the tangent but I felt that this video was the perfect time to do that clarifying.

And finally, do not confuse trends with the classics, because the classics are always in fashion, and the classics are those pieces that I mentioned in my videos of essentials, like "The 10 essentials of your closet" "Essential shoes".

Those are classics that never, they will never go out of style.

We've seen them for years and I do not think they're going to disappear soon.

For example jeans, flannels, the little black dress, ect.

If you have not seen those closet essentials, or you want to know more about the classics, I'm going to let you the links in the description box so you can see them.

Well, that was basically the difference between a fad, a trend and a classic.

And as I said, I use a very relaxed language, so I hope that with these characteristics you can distinguish a trend of a passing fad.

And I can not wait to show you how I'm incorporating some of these fashions of the moment for Spring / Summer, because I've seen some things pretty ugly and impractical in fashion right now, but at the same time I like.

Well, I'm going to share that video soon, be aware so that they see it.

Please subscribe if you have not already done so.

I hope you have learned something.

Like it if you like it this kind of videos where I sit down to talk with you about my opinions on fashion and "I educate them".

Thank you very much for watching me, see you in the next video.
